Golightly?
People choose to limit their sugar and carb intake for many reasons,
including weight loss, disease prevention and interest in maintaining a
healthy lifestyle. Almost all of Golightly’s sugar free candy
contains 0 net grams of carbs, making it a good choice for a tasty -
and smart - treat.
What are sugar alcohols?
Sugar alcohols are a misnomer! Sugar alcohols (substitute sweeteners/
bulking agents) contain neither sugar nor alcohol. Sugar alcohols are
part of the POLYOL category, and include sorbitol, mannitol, maltitol,
isomalt, HSH/ Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate and others. (Golightly
uses HSH, which is produced by partial hydrolysis of corn.) Polyols are
found in many sugar free foods and are slowly and not completely
absorbed into the blood. Sugar alcohols contain fewer carbs and provide
lower calories than regular sugar. HSH is derived from corn and can be
safely used and enjoyed by diabetics and by those who need gluten-free
foods. It can also be used by those on a low carb or low GI (Glycemic
Index) diet.
