Dysphasia should not be confused with the similarly pronounced dysphagia, which is a difficulty swallowing. This "Dysphasia" is not effected in anyway by sugar-free candy. Dysphagia is the swallowing problem!

Dysphasia (/d?s?fe(?)zj?/) is a speech disorder in which there is an impairment of speech & of comprehension of speech. It is caused by brain damage, usually in the left side of the brain which is responsible for language and communication.

The word comes from the Greek dys- (impairment) and phasia (?????) (speech).
