Dr John's FAQ's (GLUTEN FREE INFO)Because
Dr John's sugar free candy, made with sweetener HSH
in combination with Sunett or Nutrasweet® Brand, is much superior
in
taste and appearance to the present sugar free candies available.
Dr. John's sugar free hard candies contain
no salt, no fat, no preservatives, and of course, no sugar! Best of
all,
there is little or no intestinal upset and no aftertaste. The key
ingredient,
HSH, a revolutionary new sweetener also known as Hydrogenated Starch
Hydrolysates,
is derived from a purely natural source...corn.
Unlike sugars, HSH are resistant to metabolism
by oral bacteria. They are, therefore, noncariogenic. The usefulness of
HSH
as alternatives and as part of comprehensive program including proper
dental
hygiene has been recognized by dental professionals.
Unlike sugar, the slow and incomplete absorption
of HSH after consumption does not cause a significant rise in blood
glucose
and insulin response. Also, HSH has a reduced caloric value (75 percent
or
less than that of sugar). Products in which HSH replace sugar may,
therefore,
be of use providing a wider variety of reduced calorie and sugar free
choices
to people with diabetes (on the advice of their physician).
Dr. John's Candies are the best tasting new
sugar free products available. They are used in the prevention of
decay,
and as an alternative for diabetics and xerostomia. Of course, children
love
the lollipops too!
